Resting on the Trail

Happy Friday from Gainesville, Georgia! Last week, myself and nearly 30 other Center For Global Action apprentices hit the trails for a week of hiking, community/team building, and most importantly time spent with Jesus away from the distractions.

I entered the wilderness with a team made up of mostly strangers, people who have done the World Race but ones I haven’t had the pleasure of meeting yet – except for one, shout out to Danica! We were given questions to ponder as we hiked, prompting us to consider our summer seasons and the World Race and ask the Lord where he wants to bring us through this next season at CGA.

As I hiked, I’ll admit it was hard to focus at times. Thoughts about my upcoming apprenticeship and what it would entail frequently crossed my mind. My to-do list was etched in my mind, even though I didn’t have my phone to remind me what to do and when to do it. During this time the Lord really started to speak to me about rest, and most importantly resting in Him and who I am in Him.

The last day on the trail, we spent an entire day in solitude. I laid in a hammock and observed the nature around me. As I read, journaled, prayed, (and took a quick break to channel my inner Steve Irwin as I watched a snake), it was wonderful to be in a place where I could set aside the busyness of life, the day to day distractions, and finally be in a place where I can rest in His goodness.

I am excited for this new season, I am ready to see the ways the Lord moves, and I am thankful for your support.

Each Friday I will be posting a new blog, so keep an eye out for new stories and thoughts from my time here at the Center for Global Action.

Additionally, I will be sending a monthly newsletter via email updates from what I am doing at CGA, the latest news from Adventures in Missions, and personal updates and prayer requests. If you would like to receive this newsletter, please send me an email at [email protected]
